102nd General Assembly Summary

In the first year of the 102nd Illinois General Assembly, lawmakers officially passed 664 bills through both houses for eventual consideration by the governor. Veto session was held over five days in October to allow the General Assembly to take action on bills the Governor amendatorily vetoed in addition to other measures.

In the second year of the 102nd Illinois General Assembly, lawmakers passed over 400 bills through both chambers for eventual consideration by the Governor. Veto Session began in November to allow lawmakers to take action on bills vetoed by the Governor in addition to other measures. Illinois' lame duck session – a brief meeting of the outgoing legislature prior to the new legislature's swearing-in – concluded on January 10, 2023. 

As of this writing, 1116 new laws were enacted as part of the Illinois 102nd General Assembly.
