2020 New Laws Summary

In the first year of the 101st Illinois General Assembly, the legislature was in session from January 9, 2019 through May 31, 2019. Veto session was held for six days in October and November to allow the General Assembly to take action on bills that the governor had vetoed in addition to other measures. Over 600 new laws were enacted during the first year of the 101st Illinois General Assembly.

This summary report includes bills that were approved by the General Assembly that either affect, or are of interest, to county governments. The list is not all-inclusive. The synopsis of each bill is extremely brief and may not encompass the full content or impact of the legislation.
