Michael Holliday, Sr.

Michael “Doc” Holliday, Sr. was elected to the Madison County Board District 8 in 1998. He graduated from Alton High School in 1961; and upon graduation, joined the U.S. Navy, finishing his tour of duty in January 1965. After returning to Alton, he was hired at Olin Corporation where he worked for 39½ years, becoming the first African American to complete the Machinist Apprenticeship program. Michael is Head Deacon at Union Baptist Church, the oldest Baptist Church in Illinois. He and his wife Priscilla have been married for over 57 years, and have two children.
