Michael Koppien was elected to the Lee County Board in 2018 and represents District 1. Michael is a lifetime member of the Amboy Fire Department (45 years), serving 25 years as an active member and promoted through the ranks to Assistant Fire Chief. In addition, he served as a patrol officer in the City of Henry and served over 24 years as Lee County Deputy Sheriff including as Sargeant, before retiring in 1997. Michael also served 15 years as Deputy Coroner in Lee County. After retirement from the Sheriffs Department, he privately owned and operated a local trucking company. Michael is an Illinois State Certified Police Firearms Instructor and licensed concealed carry instructor for the Illinois State Police.
